BORN IN THE HEAT
Gainesville, Florida. 1965. The Florida Gators are losing players to the heat before the fourth quarter even starts. Team doctors are baffled. The NFL is indifferent. And a kidney specialist named Robert Cade is quietly convinced he knows why.
What follows is equal parts science experiment and act of faith. Cade and his team mix the first batch in a lab sink. Players hate the taste. Coaches are skeptical. The university wants nothing to do with it.
Then the Gators start winning games they shouldn't.
